Don’t Settle

Don’t settle.

You’re unhappy, I can see it in your eyes.

Why trust this bastard who has fooled you with lies?

He may say all the right things

-But then fails to prove them.

He knows how to cause your tears

-But is unable to soothe them.

He will make promises

-But is quick to break them.

You try to change him

-But you just can’t shake him.

You try to make him into a man whom you desire

-But he withdraws only to spit back the fire.

You soon will discover that no man, no person, can ever be changed

It’s time to let go, press on, and turn the page…

  1. I almost settled once, but I’m so glad I didn’t. It made life harder for a while getting out of that relationship, but in the long run it made me much happier! Great poem! Celeste 🙂

    • Thanks! And I definitely know what you mean. It’s difficult to get out of an unhealthy situation, but it feels great later! 🙂
